2023 Humanitarian Networking Night
Event description
Polycrisis is a term used to describe a complex and interconnected series of crises that occur simultaneously 🌏
These crises may be social, economic, political, environmental, or any combination of these factors. For instance at the moment we have a climate change crisis, cost of living crisis, refugee crisis, First Nations health crisis, as well as more global crises like the Russian-Ukrainian war.
A polycrisis can lead to a breakdown in the functioning of society, as well as severe disruption of daily life for individuals.
One of the key characteristics of a polycrisis is that it can be challenging to determine the root cause of the crisis. 🤔
Addressing one crisis may require resources and attention that could be used to address another crisis. In addition, the interconnected nature of a polycrisis means that solutions must be holistic and address multiple issues simultaneously.
👉Have you ever felt overwhelmed by current overlapping issues?
👉 Have you wondered how, as an individual or society, can address polycrisis? Where do we start? What realistic steps can we take to approach efficient and effective solutions?
