Event description

MC: Dee Madigan, well-known panellist on every season of Gruen and also a regular on Sunrise. An award-winning Creative Director with 25+ years’ experience, Dee is also a published author having released The Hard Sell in 2015

Keynote Speaker: Professor Sean Turnell, academic and former political prisoner.

After a spectacularly successful return from hiatus last year, the Union Aid Abroad Global Solidarity Dinner is back in 2023.

And just like last year, this is sure to sell out so make sure you get your ticket and organise your table ASAP!

The dinner is more than just a fundraising event. By hearing about workers' struggles abroad, we can also build the internationalism of our movement.

Dr Sean Turnell will give the keynote address. Sean is an Australian academic and former economic adviser to Myanmar's National League for Democracy. He spent 20 months in prison after the military's February 2021 coup.

Hear Sean's extraordinary story of being arrested and imprisoned at the notorious Insein prison following the coup. It was thanks to the support of other political prisoners that he was able to survive.

Tickets include a three-course meal with drinks available at bar prices. We have some fantastic prizes up for grabs in our auctions and raffle, things you can't get anywhere else.

Don't miss this opportunity to be a part of the best event of the year.
