USU Australian Discussion Groups

Make new friends and practise English at USU Australian Discussion Groups!

Come along to our our weekly ADG sessions, where we welcome you to Sydney, teach you some slang, some common Aussie food and drink and sports 👋

Meet other international students, learn about the most iconic spots around USYD Campus and Sydney city, plus enjoy FREE lunch at The Bevery in Courtyard Restaurant & Bar.

Tuesday 21 February Welcome to Sydney! Introduction to Australia! We will talk geography, key information about the country and have the chance to get to know some new friends.
Tuesday 7 March G'day Mate!: Aussie Slang Have you ever not been sure what it meant "to have a bevvie in the arvo?". Look no further than this ADG session where we talk all things slang, idioms and Aussie expressions.
Tuesday 21 March The Great Australian Outdoors You've seen it on movies and tv shows but we will have a little deep dive into some points of Interests in Sydney and beyond!

What are USU Australian Discussion Groups? 

Led by our friendly group facilitator, Australian Discussion Groups (ADGs) are social sessions where you can meet international students, practise English and learn more about Australian culture. 

ADGs run fortnightly throughout the semester, with each session on a different topic including Aussie Slang and Aussie Food & Drinks. Free lunch included!

Who can join Australian Discussion Groups?

These sessions are open to all USU Members. If you aren’t a member yet, make sure you sign up today so you can come along and enjoy all the fun. The best part is, it's free for all USYD students! Sign up for USU membership here.

What are the Covid-19 safety requirements? 

Attendees are required to follow all of the University's Covid Safety Precautions and any Covid Safety requirements issued by the NSW Health.

What if I don’t receive my confirmation email?
