SEDA Special Education Directors Academy Year 1 IN PERSON Dates and Session Topics

The course content may be adjusted as we progress in the year. Academy participants should plan to attend all sessions and conferences in order to participate in Year 2 of the Academy.

Sessions will be held at Littleton Elementary School District Board Room unless otherwise noted.

• Registration Deadline: July 26, 2024
• Cost: $1200.00 for the full Academy- this includes 3 conferences, all sessions and Premier Membership in CEC/CASE
• No partial registrations and registrations may not be split among participants
• Last day for refunds - August 2, 2024

Support for New and Aspiring Directors of Special Education

Arizona Council of Administrators of Special Education (ArizonaCASE), hosts a Special Education Directors Academy for new and aspiring special education directors. 

The focus is on the core information that Special Education Leaders and Directors must know to be successful during their initial months of employment and throughout the school year.

The purpose of the Academy is to assist new Special Education Leaders and Directors in the management of special education programs within their schools while ensuring the rights of students with disabilities and their parents are protected.

Who attends the Special Education Directors Academy?

• New Special Education Directors in 2024-2025, are defined as those who will be assuming the position or duties of a Director of Special Education for the first time.
• Returning Directors with less than three years of experience, who want more training and support in Special Education Leadership.
• Aspiring Leaders or Directors – those actively seeking positions as a Director/Leader in Special Education.

What does the Academy include?

• Up to 8 days of presentations selected by experienced, active, and retired Special Education Directors who work in the field, featuring representatives from the Arizona Department of Education, special education attorneys, and community partners.
• One-year Professional Membership in CEC/CASE.
• Registration for THREE conferences: AZCASE Survivor’s Conference, AZCEC/AZCASE Annual Conference, and Threading the Needle Conference.
• Becoming an active part of a collegial network of directors across the State.
• Sessions are in person for the 2024-2025 school year.
