Speaker: Dylan Gration

Data representation techniques has allowed science disciplines to build large knowledge bases on genes, diseases, phenotypes and many other domains. These have proven to be incredibly useful for both clinicians and researchers (especially bioinformaticians) working in the field of genomics and other biomedical sciences. ‘Biocuration’ provides opportunities to improve data for everyone including through both domain specific and community crowd sourced expertise.

Dylan Gration is the Manager of Data & Digital Linkages for the Western Australian Register of Developmental Anomalies (primarily consisting of Congenital Anomalies and Rare Diseases). He focuses on how to best represent rare disease data and is also a Data Curator for the Human Phenotype Ontology and the Monarch Disease Ontology, as well as other related data standards and ontologies.

The seminar series aims to provide those with interests in Indigenous Genomics research to improve and develop their knowledge and understanding across the key topics. The seminars aim to provide a broad spectrum of topics across the field.
