Topic: The cultural and historical contexts of Aboriginal people and genomic research (part 2) 

This seminar contributes to an ongoing learning process about the historical and cultural contexts of Genomic research and Indigenous people in Australia. How has western science impacted Aboriginal people? How can we begin to address this legacy ? How can Aboriginal knowledges inform our work? Over two presentations we will begin to explore these questions and more.

Amanda Richards-Satour is an Adnyamathanha and Barngarla woman from the Flinders Ranges and Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. She currently works as the Community Engagement Coordinator in the Indigenous Genomics team at the Telethon Kids Institute. Amanda has worked in health research and health service provision over the last 9 years in various roles in Alice Springs and in regional South Australia, before joining the Telethon Kids Institute in Adelaide in 2023.




Series details

The seminar series aims to provide those with interests in Indigenous Genomics research to improve and develop their knowledge and understanding across the key topics. The seminars aim to provide a broad spectrum of topics across the field.
