Event description

Date: Sunday, 15th September

Location: Loreto College's Performing Arts Centre - 316 Portrush Road, Marryatville

Join us for an afternoon celebrating diverse cultures and traditions of South Australia. Marvel at the artwork and enjoy cultural performances by students from Community Language Schools across South Australia. Afternoon tea will be provided between the Art and Performance Showcases.

This event is funded by the Department for Education.

Art Showcase - FREE to attend, no ticket required:

Doors open at 1:30pm
Art Showcase Prizes awarded from 2:00pm
Afternoon tea served from 3:30pm

Performance Showcase - $10 general entry, ticket required:

Doors open at 3:30pm
Performances start from 4:00pm
Event closes at 5:30pm

Everyone is welcome, but Performance Showcase seats are limited!

Online purchase only. No ticket sales on the day.

Tickets are not required for Performers - only audience.

Community Language Schools SA (CLSSA) is a not-for-profit organisation, non-government educational association which is incorporated under the South Australian Associations Incorporation Act 1985. CLSSA is the peak member body which provides support to 90+ separately incorporated community language school authorities which together teach a total of 47 languages. CLSSA also provides support to the South Australian Minister of Education and the Department of Education to administer the government's community language schools program.

The objects of the Association are:

to promote activities for the development and benefit of community schools;
to promote and co-ordinate the teaching of languages, history, geography and cultures of communities;
to develop and promote communication and co-operation between community schools authorities;
to co-ordinate and promote inter-community school social and cultural activities;
to promote communication and co-operation with teachers, schools and institutions involved in languages teaching.

What is a Community School?

A Community Language School is a For-Purpose organisation, after-hours language and culture school open to all students irrespective of their linguistic background.

All Community language Schools work to sustain and develop the languages and cultures of Australian communities. They provide a focus for their communities and foster a sense of identity among Australians of all cultural backgrounds. Most importantly, community schools promote cohesion within the diversity of multicultural society.

Community Schools offer the widest range of language of any Australian educational institution. Many are languages vital to Australia's economic development.
