You can represent Deakin at the 2024 UniSport Nationals Swimming Championship.

Event Details

Dates: 9-11 May 2024

City: Sydney

Event Location: Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre

Deakin Team Accommodation: Booked from 8-11 May 2024 at ibis budget Sydney Olympic Park.


Costs

Students that represent Deakin in this event cover the following costs:

DUSA Payment:    $250 includes 3 nights share accommodation, daily breakfast, insurance, off-field uniform, and a swimsuit.

UniSport Payment:     $28.50 per event entered.

Travel costs:        All travel is arranged and paid by the student.

Extras:                         All incidentals and meals (outside of breakfast) is at the students’ expense.

UniSport Nationals events provide students a great opportunity to represent their university while connecting with fellow student athletes on a trip together. Am I good enough to be selected?

UniSport Australia set qualifying standards for this event.

If you have met the minimum standards required, you can apply to represent Deakin.


How can I apply to represent Deakin?

Register and pay with DUSA before the 17th of March 2024.


Due Dates/Timeline:

21st March:       DUSA Payment and registration closes at 11.59pm.

22nd March:      Your place in the team will be confirmed via email and your uniform ordered. At this point your DUSA payment becomes non-refundable but if you need to withdraw, you will keep any uniforms ordered. You will be provided with a team code to then register for the event with UniSport.

30th March:      Begin registering for the events on Swimming NSW website.

30th March:      Begin registering for events with UniSport.

30th April:        All UniSport registrations close


I need more time to find the registration fee

If you don’t have the DUSA registration fee by the closing date, you have the option to sign up to a Zip pay program before the closing date. More info here: https://zip.co/au/store/humanitix

Due to uniform and Unisport deadlines, DUSA are unable to stretch out the due dates.


Team Manager

While at the event, the team will be managed by Deakin student athlete, Ciara Walsh. Ciara will be competing in the event in Sydney. Once you are confirmed in the team, Ciara will set up a group chat so the team can communicate before the event, share your travel plans, share Ubers, hire cars, etc. Stack Team App will be used by DUSA to communicate to the team at the event.


Uniforms

DUSA will order you an off-field kit and a Deakin Dragons swimsuit. See swimsuit sizing chart.


Transport

All students are to arrange their own transport to and from the event as well as while in Sydney. The team can communicate to arrange ride shares, etc.


Accommodation

Deakin have booked 20 beds at ibis budget Sydney Olympic Park a short walk to the pool. Rooms are twin share with breakfast provided. Here is the website for the accommodation.


Academic Extension Requests

The event takes place in Week 9 of Trimester 1. If you need to apply to your Unit Chair for any extensions, please follow the process outlined below:

  1. 1. CLICK HERE to access the automated online request form.
  2. 2. A letter of participation containing the inputted information will be automatically generated and sent to you via e-mail.
  3. 3. Present the letters(s) of participation to your Unit Chair(s). Extensions are at the Unit Chair’s discretion.
