Join us at the launch of the 2024 Fishermans Bend Digital Innovation Challenge 'A Regenerative City' at narrm ngarrgu Library from 5.30pm on Thursday 18 April 2024.

Fishermans Bend is Australia’s largest urban renewal project covering approximately 480 hectares in the heart of Melbourne. By 2050 it will be a buzzing precinct, home to approximately 80,000 residents with around 80,000 workers. This urban renewal project provides an exciting opportunity to collaboratively explore how we can harness data and emerging technologies to enable our city spaces to thrive now and in the future.

The Challenge invites entrepreneurs, universities, researchers, start-ups and established organisations to pitch big and brave ideas using data and technology to solve complex city challenges. One winning idea will receive $90,000 in funding and bring it to life for testing in Fishermans Bend in 2025. This year the theme is ‘A Regenerative City’.

We’re asking: “How might technology and data enable city spaces to be more resource efficient, circular, resilient and healthy?”

At our launch event you’ll hear from an exciting line-up of speakers including Damon Gameau, thought-leader in regenerative approaches and award-winning filmmaker, and the 2022 Digital Innovation Challenge winner Amira Moshinksy. Regen Melbourne will run an activity to spark ideas and collaboration, and you can join a short tour of the narrm ngarrgu Makerspace at 5.45pm.

Speakers

Tiffany Crawford, City of Melbourne

Tiffany Crawford is Co-Director Climate Change and City Resilience and Chief Heat Officer at City of Melbourne, focusing on achieving a resilient, well adapted and zero emissions city, as well as bringing critical attention to the issue of heat in the city. Tiffany has degrees in Law, Arts and an Executive Masters in Public Administration and has worked on leading initiatives such as Environmental Upgrade Finance, the Melbourne Renewable Energy Project, the Urban Nature Strategy, and green infrastructure policy.

Amira Moshinsky, Remix Raingardens

Amira Moshinsky, winner of the 2022 Digital Innovation Challenge, is a student in the Master of Engineering (Environmental) at the University of Melbourne. Alongside study, Amira manages an innovative, circular-economy project, Remix Raingardens. With a background in psychology, she is committed to fostering connections and collaborating to create a more sustainable and environmentally-just world.
