2024 HSRCA Sydney Classic
Event description
The 2024 HSRCA Sydney Classic will bring full field of classic, historic and vintage race cars to Sydney Motorsport Park June 8-9 for a weekend of motorsport on Sydney's iconic grand prix circuit.
The race meeting will feature events for all historic categories, celebrate Rennmax cars, introduce HQ Racing NSW and feature the penultimate round of the 2024 Heritage Touring Cars series.
For our 2024 meeting we are proud to celebrate the work of Bob Britton, creator of Rennmax cars and an icon of our community. There will be a feature race for Rennmax cars on Sunday, and we are pleased to confirm a strong turnout of the cars both in competition events and on display.
We are also honoured to be joined by HQ Racing NSW for the first time at an HSRCA meeting. Coming out of Tasmania in 1989, HQ Racing is a category for Holden HQ four door sedans running 3.3-litre six cylinder engines. The HQ Holdens will be a great fit for our historic race meeting and we look forward to seeing them in action on track, as well as enjoying the weekend together in the paddock.
The Group C and A cars of the Heritage Touring Cars series will contest the penultimate round of their 2024 championship at the Sydney Classic. These are the real deal - Australian race cars that competed in the hands of legends like Peter Brock, Allan Moffat, Dick Johnson and Jim Richards at Bathurst and in the Australian Touring Car Championship between 1973 and 1992. The series has been a wonderful addition to the meeting in recent years, and we look forward to seeing the legends of Bathurst back in action in June.
The historic motorsport scene is alive and kicking today, offering value for money motorsport to competitors and edge-of-your-seat racing excitement for spectators to enjoy. There’s action at every corner, lots of overtaking and a wide variety of cars, each with their own sounds and handling characteristics. It’s raw, noisy, fast and thrilling, which is how motorsport should be, and the reason why historics are one of the fastest growing sectors in motor racing.
Its best quality, however, is its friendly, relaxed and open community. Spectators are free to explore the pits and paddock, meet the drivers and teams, and get up close to the cars. Come along and immerse yourself in the golden age of motorsport for a few hours, and perhaps make a few new friends along the way.
