2024 Maybanke Lecture
This year’s guest speaker is Professor Elizabeth Elliott AM FAHMS FRSN from the University of Sydney, who will speak on the topic: A fair go for all kids: tackling fetal alcohol spectrum disorder in Australia.
About this year’s guest speaker: Professor Elizabeth Elliott is a Professor in Paediatrics and Child Health from the University of Sydney and a National Health and Medical Research Council Leadership Fellow. She is a Consultant Paediatrician at the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network, Head of the NSW Service for Assessment and Management of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, and Co-Director of the Centre for Care and Intervention for Children and Adolescents affected by Drugs and Alcohol. She is Director of the Australian Paediatric Surveillance Unit.
About the Maybanke FundÂ
The Fund honours the work of Maybanke Selfe Wolstenholme Anderson (1845-1927), women’s advocate and social reformer. This year it will be the 133rd anniversary of Maybanke’s first public speech on 6 May 1891. This annual public lecture is held in memory of beloved aunt, friend and Chair of Sydney Community Foundation, Rosalind Maybanke Strong AM and to support the work of the Maybanke Fund.
