    Event description

The Norman Clarke Concert is the St Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace Premier Music Concert which features six of the College’s Premier Ensembles. Over the course of the students schooling, every practise session has been dedicated to enhancing skill and has lead towards the elite highs of the Premier Ensembles. Today’s concert will see performances by 1st Percussion Ensemble, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Terrace Choir, Terrace Jazz Orchestra and the Waterford String Orchestra.

Mr Norman Clarke believed that music helps the students to achieve greater educational outcomes – as well as giving them lifelong enjoyment. It is through Mr Clarke’s generosity that Years 5 and 6 students have been given the opportunity to explore music as a passion at Terrace and beyond.  In Years 5 and 6, all students learn to play a musical instrument, study music theory and sing as part of the Classroom Music program. This unique program takes place during school time and forms part of the students’ curriculum assessment. All musical instruments for this program have been kindly donated by our Patron of the Arts and Old Boy Mr Norman Clarke (GT54). Mr Clarke passed away in April 2023. We will continue to honour Norm's legacy by ensuring our students have access to music and musical instruments.
