Thank you for registering to SignSoc's sign language classes.

Location

Monday and Tuesday's classes will be taking place in Education Seminar room 438 and will be taught by Stanley.

Wednesday and Thursday's class will be taking place in Edward Ford seminar room 316 and will be taught by Young Joo.

Please note that location might change after week 2 due to room availability.

You can find the class location on the Sydney uni app or on lost on campus.

Please ensure you have joined our society as a member. It helps us with funding from the USU to provide the classes, practice opportunities and end of class celebration.

Voice off after 1st class

The first class will have an Auslan interpreter. After the first class you are expected to be voice off, you can communicate with the teacher by typing, or writing on paper or white board, gesture, and your newly acquired Auslan skills. Immersion is the best for language learning and being voice off gives you a better learning experience. It is also disrespectful to speak if there is not an interpreter present as the Deaf teacher is unable to understand.

What to expect

First class will have an Auslan interpreter and will be focused on Deaf Awareness training.

You just need to bring yourselves.

Please help set up the room with 20 chairs in a U shape facing the projector.

Please help return the room to its original layout at the end of class.

We will be looking for 2 student reps from each class to help the teachers if any problems arise with the computer, and to contact the sign soc execs if anything unexpected happens.
