Tenterfield's Oracles of the Bush is a four-day cultural event encompassing live performance of Australian Bush poetry, music and art. Oracles of the Bush.
The 27th Oracles of the Bush will be the "Final Curtain" - everthing in life has a time frame and nothing last forever.Â
Eight professional poets and a balladeer have been contracted to entertain you in 2024. The poets are among organisers and patron's favourites from the past 26 years. The 2024 lineup is headed up by Gary Fogarty. Supporting Gary is a wonderful team of talent namely Ray Essery, Bill Kearns, Gregory North, Marco Gliori, Neil McArthur, Susan Carcary, Melanie Hall and balladeer, Amanda Faulkner.
Thursday night 4 April will kickstart a weekend of entertainmnet fun and friendship.The Transport Museum will host a "Final Curtain Celebration" Dinner. All professionals will be in attendance and brawling amongst themselves. Everyone is invited to join us to celebrate the end of an era, thank our previous legends and relax before a big weekend.
The central focus of the Oracles of the Bush Poetry Festival is the Looming Legends Poetry Competition. The Looming Legends Poetry Competition has two distinct categories – the written and the performance section. The Looming Legends Poetry Competition has one of the most substantial prize pools in Australia along with the unique Tenterfield Cork Tree Trophy for the Looming Legends Original Work Champion.
