Sculpting a small sitting dog in Huon Pine with Carol Russell

In this class you will explore the sculptural forms of dogs The aim is to capture the
essence of these lovely creatures using only hand tools. These little sculptures are a
great way to learn whittling and carving if you’re just getting started, or a lovely
project for the experience carver who wants to branch out and experiment.
 We will cover timber, the properties, and characteristics
 Design
 Tool and sharpening
 Finishing including paint and charring
 All the tools and timber you need will be provided

What To Bring
Bring a notepad and pencil, and please wear covered, sturdy shoes.

Finishing using milk paint, natural pigments, oils and charring.

No previous experience necessary. Beginners Welcome.

Please bring an apron & wear closed in shoes. 

All tools and materials are supplied, however if you have

tools you’d like to bring, please feel free.
