2025 Art Lovers: Term 1 – Ceramics with Artist: Natalie Velthuyzen

The King’s School warmly invites you to the Term 1 2025 Art Lover's event, the first of five events for the year - a practical art making class – Ceramics with Natalie Velthuyzen. 

In her studio practice, Natalie is drawn towards making tableware. Handmade ceramics that enhances the shared table, home rituals of gathering for meals, conversation, comfort and memories created. She is interested in continuing with the long tradition of wheel-formed works and classic stoneware glazes and metal oxides.

Produced in her home studio, north of Sydney, her work echoes the sandstone, eucalypts, and waterways of the Darug and Guringai locality.  

Iron-bearing stoneware clay bodies often feature in her works, alongside locally sourced clays that are hand collected. Areas of the pottery are often left unglazed to exhibit the clay’s beautiful, natural warmth, glazes and earthy oxides are  applied to reflect the palette of her landscape. 

Natalie is a well respected Sydney Ceramics Educator with over 25 years' experience in the industry.

• Venue: Senior Visual Arts Studio, The King's School
• Cost: $55.00 per person
• Includes ceramics lesson, all materials, equipment and light refreshments.
