2025 Basic Rights Qld and Working Women Qld International Women's Day Breakfast
Event description
Basic Rights Queensland and Working Women Queensland are thrilled to announce that we will be holding our Working Women’s International Women’s Day breakfast at 7am on Tuesday 11 March 2025 at the Victoria Park Function Centre.
Join us for this special event hosted by WWQ Director Eloise Dalton.
The theme for Queensland Women's Week 2025 (QWW) is March Forward: it’s time to turn promises into progress. This theme aligns with the UN Women International Women’s Day theme and is a call to action to #MarchForward for a gender equal future.
Our breakfast event will showcase the impactful and the important work of WWQ as we celebrate the progress made by the women who came before us, and importantly, recognise the barriers remaining until we achieve gender equality.
This year our discussion will focus on the impact and practice of silencing of women seeking justice in their workplaces through the perpetual use of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs). Attendees will have the opportunity to engage and connect with like-minded feminists and communities as we explore how the ongoing practice of using NDAs in workplaces continues to silence Queensland women.
WWQ Director, Eloise Dalton will host a panel of speakers that includes Adriana Siddle, Director of the Prevention Projects Team at the Queensland Human Rights Commission, Shannon Fentiman MP and Rachel Volzke from the Fair Work Ombudsman. Our event will commence with a compelling and unique Acknowledgement of Country performance from Meanjin-based singer and songwriter Waveney Yasso.

This event will be hosted on the unceded lands of the Yuggera and Turrbul peoples. In particular, we pay our respects to the Yuggera and Turrbul matriarchs whose legacy of caring for country and community we all continue to benefit from to this day.
