Join us on Wednesday, March 12th, at 7:30 pm, for our first Lewis Eady Emerging Artists Series recital of 2025, featuring the talented Yuzhang Wu.

Yuzhang Wu | Pianist

After graduating from Pinehurst School, Yuzhang is currently studying piano performance at the Hannover University of Music, Drama, and Media under Professor Roland Kruger. Since 2017, she has been mentored by Dr Jian Liu and Professor Bryan Sayer in New Zealand.

A frequent winner in both local and international music competitions, Yuzhang was the only female finalist and prizewinner at the 5th China Shenzhen International Piano Concerto Competition (WFIMC) in 2023. That same year, at the age of 15, she won the prestigious 55th National Concerto Competition in New Zealand. Her international competition debut came in 2019 when she won both the First Prize and Young Jury Prize at the 3rd Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians (WFIMC). Yuzhang has been invited to give solo recitals in Wellington, Gisborne, Hamilton, and Auckland and has performed concertos with orchestras such as the Salzburg Chamber Soloists, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, and Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra. Her concerto performances have taken place across New Zealand in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, as well as in Qingdao, Zhuhai, Tianjin, and Shenzhen, China.

From 2021 to 2023, Yuzhang was a Chiron Scholar, receiving support from the Chiron Lewis Eady Foundation. She is also grateful to be the recipient of AIMES Award music scholarship by North Harbour Club, Alice Cole Piano Scholarship by Dame Malvina Major Foundation, and Margaret Boone Memorial Piano Sonata Scholarship by IRMT.
