2025 Immersia: Oceans Connect - France and the Blue Pacific
Event description
A cultural journey into the Pacific, where French meets creativity, storytelling, and student eloquence
In collaboration with IMMERSIA, ANU French Studies presents a special event exploring how French connects with the cultures, histories, and futures of the Blue Pacific.
Oceans Connect: France and the Blue Pacific introduces the role of French in international relations, diplomacy, and cultural exchange across Oceania. The session will open with a short introduction to France’s Pacific presence and a participatory French “skills sprint,” showing how quickly students can begin engaging with the language.
The heart of the event will be the ANU Eloquence Art Showcase, where three student finalists present their creative, ocean-themed works. Inspired by the national Eloquence Art Prize theme “Art and the Environment: Oceans in Danger,”these short performances bring together art, storytelling, and student voices to reflect on the challenges and possibilities facing our region.
Take a moment to immerse yourself in language, culture, and creativity, and discover how French can open new pathways into the Asia–Pacific and beyond.
