The Rocks Laneway Cinema

Amongst golden sandstone buildings and cobbled lanes on Playfair Street, you’ll find a giant screen surrounded by cosy bean bags and comfy deck chairs where you can watch your favourite movie under the stars each Wednesday night. Gates open at 5:30pm and the movie starts at 7.00pm.

Entry to The Rocks Laneway Cinema is free, but for the best seats in the house - be sure to register for your free ticket. If you miss out booking online there are a limited amount of walk-ups ticket available on the night!

November is Animation Month and we will be proudly supporting Studio A, a studio based in Sydney that tackles the barriers artists with intellectual disabilities face in accessing conventional education, professional development pathways and opportunities to be successful in the visual arts.

Synopsis: In this animated adaptation of Ted Hughes' Cold War fable, a giant alien robot crash-lands near the small town of Rockwell, Maine, in 1957. Exploring the area, a local 9-year-old boy, Hogarth, discovers the robot, and soon forms an unlikely friendship with him. When a paranoid government agent, Kent Mansley, becomes determined to destroy the robot, Hogarth and beatnik Dean McCoppin must do what they can to save the misunderstood machine.
