About this home

This retrofitted double brick home maximizes energy efficiency with insulation, double glazing, solar hot water, and passive heating and cooling. Gas has been eliminated in favor of solar-boosted hot water and induction cooking, while solar panels charge a battery for backup power. Winter energy use has dropped by 80% since 2014, with ongoing innovations like heating the brick fireplace for thermal storage, proving a standard 1960s home can become fully electric and potentially off-grid.

Renew is a small not for profit organisation that needs to raise money from ticket sales to cover the costs of hosting this event. In some cases the ticket revenue may also be split with the homeowner.
