2025 Vashon Strawberry Festival Campout!
Event description
We are so excited to share our space with you all this Strawberry Festival! Being out on Vashon Island has been our dream for years and we can't think of a better way to celebrate than spending the weekend together while enjoying a bunch of music, a parade and, of course, strawberries!
This is a no-host, choose your own adventure sort of event. We want you all to feel free to come and go as you please! We will have coffee and tea set up every morning on the deck, as well as games in the yard and a kid-centered movie night. You are welcome to lounge in the yard day/night- hopefully will have the bus ready by then in case the little ones need a cooler spot for naps.
If you are planning to come out for the weekend please let us know by RSVPing. If the whole weekend is a bit too long and you want to come for just a night, or even a daytrip, that is great too!
Learn more about the festival here: https://www.thisisvashon.com/strawberry-festival
You will receive info about the accommodations and some Vashon travel tips via email after you RSVP. Reach out with any questions, ideas or anything else!
Looking forward to spending time with you all,
Rachel, Ben, Elizabeth and Khoeli
About the Accommodations:
We will also be enjoying the festival and some of us may even be performing on one of the stages (6pm Saturday at Snapdragon :)). So please plan to choose your own adventure and we will be excited to see you in town and in the yard! Schedule of music and events will be found here, closer to the weekend. https://www.thisisvashon.com/strawberry-festival
Vashon has been identified as high fire risk so no open fires. We will keep you posted if anything changes before the event.
Please follow the pack it in, pack it out etiquette- we don't have large trash and recycling capacity for this many people. Plant based food waste can be added to our outdoor compost.
We will have coffee and tea available every morning on the deck. Feel free to hang out there day or night!
There will be games and a little inflatable pool in the yard- we will be coming and going all day and you are welcome to hang out any time!
One of the evenings we will have an outdoor movie for kids in the fenced in part of the yard- movie recommendations welcome!
We will have two charcoal grills available to use- please bring charcoal if you think you will want to use that.
Ben is building out two composting toilets currently and we are also renting two porta potties but will not have showers (coming 2026).
We will reserve one area for folks camping without kids.
All camp spots are first come first serve.
FYI- we have large walnut trees. Sharing in case that is a concern for folks with allergies.
Tips:
Plan for longer wait times for the boats- arriving earlier and leaving late is your best bet. Ferry Friend is a great app- we recommend it!
Roads will be closed starting Friday at 3pm (see the map here https://vashon-maury.com/strawberry-festival/) you can still get to our house bypassing town, However, on Saturday the parade will go right by our house and you will not be able to drive in and out of our driveway between 9:30am- noonish.
We are at 18710 Vashon Hwy SW- a 15 min walk to town. We recommend leaving your car and walking to avoid the parking mess.
Parking at our house- folks staying all weekend can park in the driveway. If you will need to easily access your car to drive around the island (great walks and beaches) or get to a specific ferry, we suggest you park along the highway across from our house (you may need to move your car during the parade) or along the side of 188th.
There are amazing restaurants on Vashon and this will be a super busy weekend. If waiting for longer periods sounds rough we recommend you plan to eat camp-style meals- please plan to cook without open fires.
There are lots of beautiful places to swim- we recommend KVI as a nearby beach that's fun for kids and adults. You can also visit Oscar the Bird King, who has a trail down to the beach moments away!
