OVERVIEW Tutor: Valé Vincent Dates: Monday 8th, 15th and 22nd September 2025 Time: 9:30am to 1pm each Monday Cost: $200 for non members, $180 for Newcastle Printmakers Workshop members. Enquiries: valerie.vincent@bigpond.com Venue: Newcastle Printmakers Workshop, 27 Popran Road, Adamstown This course requires a minimum of 4 participants to proceed. Come along to this small and relaxed workshop where students will learn and explore the many possibilities of the collagraph print, a very affordable printmaking technique that can produce interesting and often unexpected results. Students will create a variety of collagraph plates using mat board, looking specifically at incising and peeling away layers of the plate, and applying textures, paint mediums and glue onto the plate surface. Students will be encouraged to experiment with and develop many variations and combinations within this technique including, al la poupée, chiné colle and multi-colour prints. Course notes, plate making materials and inks provided by the tutor. Suitable for beginners and those wanting to extend knowledge and further hone skills in collagraphy. What students need to bring: Images and ideas to work with, or work on ideas during session times. For those with some experience any plates you may wish to print or re-use. Your own printmaking paper suitable for intaglio, or purchase from the tutor or workshop. Disposable gloves for printing sessions Old paint shirt or apron and closed-in shoes for safety. Refreshments and snacks The workshop has a fridge, kettle and microwave. Covid Safety: Participants must checkin, wash or sanitise their hands immediately upon entering the workshop and maintain physical distancing whenever possible during class. If you have COVID-19 symptoms or have been directed to isolate, you must not attend class. ABOUT THE TUTORS Valé is passionate about printmaking with a focus on lino printing, collagraphy, solar plate etching, and fabric screen printing. Valé holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts majoring in printmaking. She exhibits regularly and has been printmaking for over 20 years. Vale is a member at the Newcastle Printmakers Workshop and the Make Space collective in Newcastle. Valé often draws inspiration from her prints to incorporate them into her handmade bag designs for her local business Inknot. valerie.vincent@bigpond.com |
