2026 ACGR National Meeting 2

2026 National Member Meeting 2 of the Australian Council of Graduate Research will be held on Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th November 2026 and is co- hosted by the University of Queensland. The meeting will be held at the University of Queensland St Lucia Campus. The venue is 15 minutes by car from the Brisbane CBD.

Wednesday November 4th venue: Andrew N. Liveris Building – Combined Collaborative Space – 46-242/243

Thursday November 5th venue: ModWest – Collaborative – 11A-130

A conference dinner and ACGR Awards for Excellence prestation will be held on the Wednesday evening. The dinner will be held at The Emporium Hotel South Bank in the Frangipani Room, 267 Grey Street, South Brisbane

• Higher education sector and research policy updates- including ATEC developments, national priorities and emerging issues affecting graduate research.

• Supporting neurodivergent HDR candidates - including implementation of ACGR Good Practice Guidelines and strategies to strengthen support for candidates and supervisors.

• The future of doctoral assessment in the age of AI- including research integrity, intellectual ownership, oral examinations, inclusion and culturally responsive assessment.

• Managing challenging behaviours in graduate research- with practical approaches to conflict, communication breakdowns, unrealistic expectations and supporting professional staff.

• HDR wellbeing and research culture- including evidence and approaches to understanding and improving the HDR experience.

• Industry engagement and PhD placements- including national research into student and advisor experiences and opportunities to strengthen industry-connected doctoral training.

• Industry PhDs and innovative doctoral models- exploring different approaches to integrating industry partnerships and experiences into PhD training.

Registrations are free for one primary representative of each full member organisation. Early bird registrations for additional delegates and all associate members are $715 (incl GST). Registration includes day catering on both days and the conference dinner on Wednesday evening.

Places are limited to no more than three delegates from each member institution.
