Emily Kemp, a recent Bachelor of Science (Honours) graduate and native seed enthusiasts, will be taking us on a journey through her honours research which focused on understanding the relationship between internal seed structures (embryo) and germination characteristics of 40 threatened Victorian flora species. Her research highlighted the complex but patterned relationship between embryo morphology and germination behaviours, and discusses how embryo morphology may be a useful predictive tool for determining complex germination mechanisms, assisting with native species propagation and overall conservation.
Em will also lead a hands-on demonstration investigating seed embryos!
