UNFOLD THE ARTISTRY OF PAPER FLOWERS WITH CATHERINE OXLEY

The heart of this retreat is observation – discover how to capture a flower’s visual details and recreate them using fine Italian paper and watercolor.

Catherine’s workshop will invite you to see flowers in a new way. We’ll observe their|qualities, learn how to reproduce their scale, shape, and movement, and bring them to life using watercolor on different weights of fine, Italian crepe paper. This is not only a workshop but also a meditation on beauty, challenging us to think about what draws us to the natural world, and how this might be skillfully recreated.

Nestled among the rolling fields just outside Boulder, Colorado, this rustic working farm is home to our Black Cat Makerie retreats. Tucked away from the rush of the world, time stands still. The beauty here isn’t curated, but rather defined by the ever-changing seasons and the pulse of growth and possibility at every turn. No matter where you are coming from or which season of life you find yourself in, you’ll feel the embrace of something so grounding and deeply authentic you might not ever forget it.

Using Black Cat’s Certified Organic farm as a source of creativity, Chef Eric Skokan creates an award-winning cuisine vibrant with seasonality. The kitchen draws heavily from the farm’s more than 250 varieties of organic vegetables, legumes, grains, herbs and flowers, as well as its large flock of heritage sheep and its robust population of heritage pigs, paving the way for a limitless palette of flavors, colors, and textures from which to build each food experience. The farm team devotes hours every day to harvesting ingredients, and then crafting them into outstanding dishes that mirror what is thriving in the fields. We can’t wait for you to experience it all for yourself!

Refund policy

Refunds & Cancellations: There will be no refunds after February 8, 2026. No exceptions. We will accept refund requests in writing before February 8, 2026, and you will incur a $200 administration fee. Transfers to another attendee for the same retreat are acceptable, but we must be notified in writing of any changes. Tickets MAY NOT be transferred to another retreat. The Makerie LLC reserves the right to cancel the retreat if the minimum number of students is not met. You will be contacted by email and will receive a full refund. In the case of unforeseen circumstances, disaster, war or other acts of GOD, which would cause the event to be canceled, The Makerie LLC reserves the right to reschedule the event. Waiver & Release: I have read all of the above policy information and I agree to assume all risk of personal harm or injury relating to or resulting from my presence on the premises of The Makerie, and/or my participation in any class or activity associated with The Makerie and to release and hold harmless The Makerie LLC, its members, employees, volunteers, and instructors, as to liability for any such harm or injury. I agree that this is a contract and that it plainly expresses my intent to release prospective negligence claims and all other claims for personal injuries against The Makerie LLC, its members, employees, and instructors regardless of the cause of any such injury. We strongly suggest purchasing travel insurance to protect yourself from unforeseen circumstances that would cause you to cancel after our no refund date.
