ABOUT CRU
Our Vision:
Full and meaningful lives for people
living with disability.
Our Mission:
We inspire, challenge and equip people to embrace ideas and take action so that people living with disability are active contributors to social and economic life. Together with people living with disability, their families, service providers and the community we build a movement for change.
The Strategies of CRU:
CRU does this through;
• Hosting a variety of topical workshops; conversations and forums.
• Providing access to information and inspiration through resources which include CRUcial Times, the regular CRU publication; relevant and insightful books; the CRU website and The Good Life website; and links to other important organisations and events.
• Intentional leadership development to equip others to lead positive change.
History and Governance:
CRU was established in 1988 to support grass roots change in Queensland by a group of families, professionals and people with disabilities. CRU was incorporated as an association in 1988 and transitioned to become a company limited by guarantee in March 2017. The Governance of CRU is vested in the Board of Directors who are elected annually. The implementation of CRU programs is the responsibility of the CEO and the staff. CRU currently receives some funding from the State government. CRU’s work is also funded through project grants, workshops and fee for service consultancy work.
