2026 FILM@LIM - Invisible Mammal

Against the backdrop of the sixth mass extinction, an all-woman team of biologists set out to save bats from a deadly fungal disease, but when the COVID-19 pandemic interrupts their work, they are sent down a path of discovery that illuminates the connections between bat conservation and the spread of infectious disease. This film will change the way you see bats, and you'll walk away inspired by the dedication and work of the scientists and rescuers bringing these mysterious and misunderstood mammals into the spotlight.

A panel follows the screening with the director, Kristen Tièche, and local scientists discussing the film and its themes with the audience.

The Gillespie Room is located inside the Carriage Museum building on the Long Island Museum campus. The room is climate controlled due to the delicacy of the exhibits. Please bring a sweater or jacket for warmth and comfort.
