2026 Land Day Walking Challenge

Land Day commemorates the ongoing resistance against the expropriation of Palestinian land. On 30th March 1976, Israeli police killed six Palestinian citizens of Israel protesting the seizure of thousands of dunums of Palestinian land in the Galilee. The JNF, established in 1901 as a key pillar of the Zionist settler colonial project, has until now facilitated land theft and ethnic cleansing of Palestine.

Today, illegal settlements continue to expand across the West Bank. The landscape of the West Bank is rapidly shrinking, as Israeli forces increase checkpoints, close roads and the JNF continue to force more Palestinians from their land.

This year, SPSC is calling for a #NationalLandDayChallenge, asking the people of Scotland to write to OSCR (Office of Scottish Charity Regulator) and demand that the charity status of JNF KKL Scotland be revoked.

This challenge will also raise funds for the Plant a Tree in Palestine project, as part of the Stop the JNF Campaign to:

RESIST: helping farmers plant trees is a powerful form of resistance

RECLAIM: supporting the ongoing struggle to sustain and reclaim land

RETURN: supporting the return to the land while the JNF continues to force Palestinians from their farms

Join us for the ultimate Edinburgh walking challenge in solidarity with the people of Palestine on Land Day 2026. There will be lots of discussion along the way, plenty of time to meet people, chat, and enjoy the beautiful views of Edinburgh from the top of each hill. In true SPSC spirit, no one will be left behind. If you are finding the walk difficult at any point, help will be on hand. We will go as fast as the last person.
