Join the Alzheimers Whanganui 2026 Memory Walk — a community event bringing people together to raise awareness and funds to support people living with dementia/mate wareware and their whānau.
This is a chance to walk alongside friends, family, colleagues and our wider community as we show that no one should face dementia alone.
Whether you are walking in memory of someone special, walking alongside someone living with dementia, or simply showing your support, every step helps make a difference.
Funds raised from this event help Alzheimers Whanganui continue providing free local support, education, connection and meaningful programmes for people living with dementia/mate wareware and their whānau in Whanganui.
Everyone is welcome.
Bring your family, friends, workmates and community groups. Together we can create a more understanding and supportive community for people living with dementia/mate wareware.

- Do I need to register before the event?
Pre-registration is encouraged, but you are welcome to register on the day. Simply visit our registration desk at the event.
- Can children attend?
Yes! This is a family-friendly community event and everyone is welcome.
- Is the walk accessible?
Yes. We welcome people of all abilities. Please contact us if you have any accessibility requirements so we can support your participation.
- How long is the walk?
3km. It starts from the Silver Bearing (Sphere), up to Dublin Street Bridge, and back.
- Where does the money raised go?
Funds raised support Alzheimers Whanganui’s local services, including support, education, meaningful activities and programmes for people living with dementia/mate wareware and their whānau.
- Can I participate if I don't know anyone living with dementia?
Absolutely. The Memory Walk is for everyone. By joining us, you are helping create greater understanding and awareness of dementia within our community.
- Can I walk in memory of someone?
Yes. Many people choose to walk in memory of a loved one, to honour their journey, or to show support for someone currently living with dementia.
- What happens if the weather is bad?
The event will continue unless conditions are unsafe. Any updates will be shared through Alzheimers Whanganui’s Facebook page.
