Picnic at Hanging Rock

Based on the haunting Australian story by Joan Lindsay, Picnic at Hanging Rock comes to life on David Lawe Davies stage at Guildford Grammar School, in an intriguing adaptation. Set on Valentine’s Day in 1900, the story follows a group of students who embark on a picnic excursion to the breathtaking Hanging Rock. What begins as a carefree outing in the Australian bush soon turns unsettling and leaves a lingering sense of unease.

An iconic piece of Australian storytelling, Picnic at Hanging Rock is a production that explores themes of innocence, repression, nature, and the unknown, all set against the haunting landscape of the Australian outback. This stage adaptation invites audiences to experience the mysterious, that we hope will leave you captivated long after the final moment on stage.

We’re doing things differently this year!

What begins as a school picnic quickly takes an unsettling turn. The story is tense, eerie and mysterious — and we’ve reimagined the way it’s experienced.

Due to a delay with our tiered seating, the David Lawe Davies Centre will be set with bean bags and accessible seating, drawing you closer to the mystery and into the atmosphere of the show.

Well suited to the story, the feel of the performance will be more immediate and immersive.

A limited number of chairs will be available and reserved for those unable to use bean bag seating.

Please note:

All tickets are $25
Seating is first come, first served on the night
Chairs are reserved for those unable to use bean bags
