Queensland Kendo Renmei invites you to the Queensland Kendo Winter State Dan Grading Examination at Brendale. All current AKR members (and FIK affiliate members) are welcome!

Date: Sunday 12th July 2026

Location: South Pine Sports Complex, 620 South Pine Road, Brendale, QLD, 4500.

The Grading Examination will be held on Sunday morning from 10:00am. Please arrive by 9:00am for the on-the-day grading registration.

We are planning to hold grading examination as per the below:

Kendo 3 Kyu to Sandan – To Be Confirmed – based on grading panel availability.
Iaido 3 Kyu to Nidan – To Be Confirmed – based on grading panel availability.
Jodo 3 Kyu to Shodan – To Be Confirmed – based on grading panel availability.

Schedule:

9:00am – venue opens and grading registration
9:30am – panel aand candidate briefings
10:00am – Jodo, Iaido & Kendo Gradiang Examination

Please bring your own lunch for purchase at nearby shops.

There will be optional free practice from 12:30 to 1:30pm for all arts.

Dan examination questions will be posted here (on the QKR Website) shortly after the closing of the grading registration.

Registration

To be eligible you must meet the time-in-grade and minimum qualifications for the grade you are attempting.

Closing date for receiving grading applications is the 27 June 2026.

To apply for grading examination follow these 2 steps:

Submit your signed Grading Application Form (found here: akr_grading_applcation_form) to Grading@qkr.asn.au by 5pm 27 June 2026 to be eligible to be examined. No late submissions will be accepted.
Pay your grading fees here by 5pm 27 June 2026.

IMPORTANT! You must be a paid 2026-2027 member* of the Queensland Kendo Renmei (or AKR Affiliate) to participate in this event.

* 2026-27 Membership registration will be open on 1 June 2026.
