If you’d like to work with people, build your confidence and make a meaningful impact in your work, the aged care and disability support sector is an ideal choice. This introductory course helps you to identify the skills you already have, as well as the job requirements to work in the care and support industry, and to understand the importance of person-centred care. 

This course is suited to people who are looking for a career change, returning to work, or preparing to work in the aged care and disability support sector. People and customer service skills are transferrable and highly regarded. A role in this sector is fulfilling and there are many options for flexible working hours.

The sessions will be held on 31 May, 7 June, 14 June, 21 June.
Each Tuesday class will run from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

The course topics will include:  

  • Person-centred care 
  • Client dignity 
  • Introduction to NDIS  
  • Self-care and resilience  
  • Personal boundaries  
  • Infection control  
  • Resume writing to prepare you for your next role  

Our Community Learning mentors and trainers are there to support you every step of the way. We treat you as an individual, we want you to feel confident and empowered, and ready to take the next steps in your learning journey or path to employment.

You will be required to complete a basic assessment of your reading and numeracy skills before you start. This will help the team identify any supports you may need, and ensure that this is the right course for you.
