One of the most important steps in preparing for employment is learning how to present your ideas well. This course will help you to understand your emotions and needs, and how these influence your interactions with others, to have impactful conversations that boost your confidence and help you feel good for work.

The sessions will be held on 10 June, 17 June, 24 June, and 1 July
Each Friday class will run from 9:30am to 2:30pm.

Facilitators
Claudia Chavez, CEO of Latin American Society of South Australia

Claudia is originally from Mexico City with more than 25 years of experience working in marketing, events, tourism and business development, working with multinational organisations, councils, non- profit organisations such as Nestle Mexico, Texas Tourism Office, Coca-Cola FEMSA, Coca-Cola Amatil, Walkeville & Mitcham Council and SA Great.

Brett Shuttleworth, Learning & Pathways Manager of Community Centres SA

Brett is an educator at his core, he has a passion for helping teachers to teach and learners to learn. He has an experienced background with digital technology, marketing and digital communication. Brett has worked across the education sector including Universities, RTOs, TAFE, schools and as an Education Manager for a Community Centre.

The course topics include:

  • Tailoring your delivery for an audience
  • Design presentations that matter
  • Master techniques to overcome nervousness and present with confidence
  • Practice techniques that ensure clear, concise and effective wording is used
  • Deliver a polished, professional and credible speech
  • Handle questions and comments effectively
  • Building connections through and with LinkedIn

Our Community Learning mentors and trainers are there to support you every step of the way. We treat you as an individual, we want you to feel confident and empowered, and ready to take the next steps in your learning journey or path to employment.

You will be required to complete a basic assessment of your reading and numeracy skills before you start. This will help the team identify any supports you may need, and ensure that this is the right course for you.
