The Social Roots of Youth Suicide & What to Do About Them: Why are our youth struggling, and how does the world around them shape their pain? It’s time to look past the individual and toward the community. Join Dr. Anna Mueller, author of the award-winning Life Under Pressure, for an eye-opening exploration into the social roots of youth suicide. This isn't just a lecture; it’s a roadmap. Whether you are a parent, educator, clinician, or a teen yourself, you will walk away with a fresh perspective on why social environments matter and—more importantly—how to change them. Discover actionable strategies to build "suicide-safe" communities and learn how to provide transformative care after a loss.

  • Nicole Hawkins, PhD

Understanding the Unique Risks of First Responders, Military Personnel, and Athletes to Inform Suicide Prevention Efforts: We must understand why suicide occurs in special subgroups to prevent suicide on a large scale. Athletes, military personnel, and first responders have unique risks and protective factors that must be explored in order to develop and implement suicide interventions and programs that are effective for those populations. Dr. O'Brien explains the theory and the research behind why athletes, military, and first responders die by suicide and outlines important next steps for suicide prevention.
