Event description

Auditions for the 2nd annual Lawrence Has Talent are being held on Thursday February 6th from 5pm - 8pm and Saturday, February 8th, 2025 between 9:00 am - 2pm. 

There is an audition fee of $20 per act. The fee will be waived for the first 10 acts to sign up and for those who have received a golden ticket at school.

Please note: Acts should arrive 1/2 hour before your scheduled audition time. A consent form will be emailed to you closer to the event. All participants must fill this out prior to auditioning. 

Act Requirements: 

A variety of acts are encouraged—singing, playing a musical instrument, dancing, performing in a skit, doing magic tricks, performing stand-up comedy, juggling, or any other unique talent! However, there should be NO LIP-SYNCHING acts.

  • Acts may have multiple members. The maximum number of participants per act is 8 unless you email info@ltefnj.org for permission for a larger group.
  • Individuals may only audition as a part of up to 2 acts.
  • Acts must be no longer than 3 minutes.
  • Acts must be fully prepared for the audition—words memorized, choreography completed, etc. 
  • Accompaniments may be live or recorded. If recorded it should be submitted electronically once your audition is confirmed. No phones with the track will be accepted. All songs must be edited prior to auditions. No accompanist will be provided.
  • Absolutely no profanity or insensitive subject matter will be permitted.
  • Costumes must be appropriate for all age groups. This is a community event.
  • Available to performers: Microphones, piano and ability to show media on a screen.
  • Please Provide your audio ahead of time if you need us to play audio.

Performer Eligibility: 

  • Open to all ages
  • Previous winners of LHT are not eligible to compete 
  • All performers must be tied to Lawrence in ONE of the following ways: 
    • living in
    • working in
    • attending school/college
    • having attended school/college
    • currently receiving talent training in town

Judging:

  • No recording is being made by the committee and no recording is allowed during the audition by the act or committee.
  • Acts are being pre-screened by the LTEF-LHT Committee.
  • Judges are using a rubric to evaluate acts. 
  • In all cases, decisions of the judges/LTEF Committee are final and will not be open to discussion.
  • Prizes will be given to: 19 and over ~ $1000, 18 and under ~ $1000, Audience Choice ~ $500, LTEF Choice ~ $500 (based on the oldest participant in the act).

Participant Steps:

  • Step 1: Read all information and rules. 
  • Step 2: Fill out Act Information, select and pay for an Audition Slot.
  • Step 3: All participants of an act fill out a Participation Contract before they audition. 
  • Step 4: Arrive and perform at your audition. 
  • Step 5: Receive an e-mail/call if your act has been selected for the final competition.
  • Step 6: If selected, be at Media Day on February 23rd, Dress Rehearsal on April 1st and attend the finals on April 4th.
