Welcome to the 2nd Melbourne Forró Marathon!
Presented by: Melbourne Forro Festivals Inc
Forró is a lively and popular genre of music and dance originating from the North-Eastern region of Brazil. It encompasses a variety of styles and rhythms, making it a central part of Brazilian cultural expression.
The Marathon in 2024 will include dance workshops, parties with live music, teachers/musicians from interstate and overseas, a lot of fun and plenty of opportunity to immerse yourself in everything to do with Forró and connect with the Forró community!

Arrumadinho Roots

Arrumadinho Roots is a traditional Forró band deeply rooted in the genre's rich history, drawing inspiration from legendary artists like Luiz Gonzaga, Dominguinhos, Os 3 do Nordeste, Trio Nordestino, Zito Borborema, Ary Lobo, Jackson do Pandeiro, etc. Their music reflects the essence of classic Forró, blending authentic rhythms with a timeless spirit. What sets Arrumadinho Roots apart is the incredible connection between its musicians, who have been playing together for years. This deep bond translates into electrifying live performances that captivate audiences and make their shows unforgettable.
Forro Lunar
Forró Lunar is the newest Forró band in Melbourne. Buckle up for an interstellar journey, that will take you to the moon and back!
FORRÓ TEACHERS
Bernardo Amleto
Bernardo started dancing Forró in the UK with the Forró Family group in Brighton and London in 2016. At that time, Forró was his remedy to cope with a stressful PhD. It provided a way to shut off the brain and let the music heal. Naturally, his enthusiasm for Brazilian culture and the happiness surrounding the dancing community grew. Then he became totally addicted to dancing. Later on Bernardo started his own teaching classes in his home town Biella, Italy, before moving to Australia, where he joined Forró Brisbane, and Forró Cairns.
Julie Carbone
Julie is a forro teacher from Brisbane. She started dancing forro in 2019 and quickly became hooked. She says she can't see her life without teaching forro anymore!
Léo Rio
Léo Rio originates from Rio de Janeiro and has been dancing forró for over 25 years. Before moving to Australia, he was the owner and teacher at Forró Norway, now at Forroz Melbourne dance school. He has given workshops and classes all around Europe, Austrália and Ásia. Leo is also a forró musician and a renowned DJ in Europe/Austrália hitting the perfect trifecta of knowledge of forró history, musicality and dance.
Barbara Loreto
Barbara Loreto her love for forró started over 25 years ago, and since moving to Australia, the connection to Brazilian culture and expressing it through music and dance became not only a passion but a way of celebrating her identity as a migrant. Barbara has experience teaching all levels and has a true passion for teaching beginners. She has taught in festivals and events in various places in Australia for the last 6 years. Barbara is based in Brisbane where she teaches workshops of all styles including roots and teachers weekly first steps class.

You may be photographed, videotaped, or otherwise recorded by Forroz Melbourne or its agents.
Forroz Melbourne Festival retains the right to use any such recordings for promotional purposes, including but not limited to social media, websites, advertisements, and other marketing materials.
You grant Forroz Melbourne Festival a worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free, irrevocable license to use your likeness in any media now known or hereafter developed.
4. Compliance with Event Rules
You agree to comply with all rules and regulations set forth by Forroz Melbourne Festival and the venue.
Forroz Melbourne Festival reserves the right to refuse entry or eject any person who fails to comply with these rules, without refund.
5. Personal Responsibility
You are responsible for your own safety and personal property at the event.
Forroz Melbourne Festival is not liable for any loss, damage, or injury sustained at the event.
6. Changes to the Event
Forroz Melbourne Festival reserves the right to make changes to the event program, including lineup changes, schedule changes, or venue changes, without prior notice.
Such changes do not entitle ticket holders to a refund or compensation.
7. Governing Law
These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Australia. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Port Phillip.
8. Severability
If any provision of these terms and conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
9. Entire Agreement
These terms and conditions constitute the entire agreement between Forroz Melbourne Festival and the ticket purchaser and supersede all prior agreements and understandings, whether written or oral.
