Spring Awakening: Yoga + Music @ FREMONT ABBEY
Event description
Gather in community for the second edition of Spring Awakening: a special all-levels yoga class led by Seattle yoga teacher Emily Dalgo in celebration of the rejuvenating energy of the Vernal Equinox. We will flow to the music of multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Byung to mark the end of winter and welcome the season of growth and renewal. Nature-inspired art by local artists will be on display to view or purchase. Mats and raffle giveaways will be provided by lululemon. Give yourself this moment to reflect, set intentions, and embrace new beginnings!
Fremont Abbey is accessible via several major bus routes. Free and paid street parking is also available.
Raffle prizes from lululemon include a yoga mat, foam roller, and water bottle!
Portland Juice Co. is our contributing partner. We'll have samples of their organic fresh-pressed juices available after the event.

Byung:
"Byung is a Korean-American musician and composer, known for his deeply resonant and emotionally charged soundscapes. Through his mastery of the pedal steel guitar, he creates meditative, immersive experiences that connect the listener to the subtle, healing power of sound. Drawing from both Western and Eastern influences, Byung’s music blends the deep, harmonic overtones of the pedal steel with ambient textures, inviting reflection and emotional release.
For this special event, Byung will accompany a sound bath and yoga session, using the pedal steel guitar as the sole instrument. The guitar’s unique ability to create sustained, otherworldly tones will guide participants into a state of deep relaxation, offering a sonic journey that enhances the flow of breath and movement. His playing resonates in a way that feels both intimate and expansive, evoking a sense of calm and introspection. The subtle, wave-like qualities of the pedal steel will help you connect with the present moment, releasing tension and fostering a deep sense of inner peace.
This session offers a unique opportunity to experience the transformative power of sound through Byung’s thoughtful and immersive playing, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and mindfulness." - Artist Bio
