3 DAY - TEENAGER'S SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM

BODY - MIND - FITNESS
Welcome to the Body-Mind-Fitness school holiday program, designed to help teenagers 12-15 years old of all abilities, to improve their physical and mental health while having fun. The program will take place on June 26th, 27th and 28th 2023, from 9:15 am to 2:30 pm.
Monday and Wednesday, the program is an all-inclusive, non-competitive, and stress-free day for teenagers. Using Yoga adapted to match the world of our teenagers, the first hour we will work on balance and strength building, relaxation and gentle stretching, as we get familiar with the power of our breath. After lunch it is time for fun and games! These follow a psycho-social method, based on principles from Rock and Water, AiA Resilience training, and Desirable Prevention. This allows for the magic of having fun, with an element of self reflection, thus strengthening self-confidence, self-empowerment, and self-awareness.
On Tuesday, weather allowing, we will go on an ADVENTURE! We've partnered up with Melbourne's oldest Kayak Tour company: Kayak Melbourne, to explore the city's main water source and meeting place, the perennial river the Birrarung, in the Kulin language, known as the Yarra river in English. After a safety brief by the instructors, we'll put on our PFD's and float up and down the city's many historic sites, with narration by our guide, whilst seeing, hearing and smelling, the relation between wild untamed nature, and not-quite-so-wild nature and our modern city-dwelling live-styles from the Kayak. We'll meet at the usual spot in Curtain square, tram and walk down to Flinders station, where we'll bord the kayaks, go for a paddle, return after 2 hrs, have lunch and visit Fed square, and take a tram back to Curtain square at 2.30pm.
PROGRAM DETAILS:
- WHO: 12-15 years old teenagers, all abilities, all inclusive
- WHEN: Monday 26th, Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th June, from 9:15 am to 2:30 pm
- WHERE: Drop off and meetup point: Curtain Square gazebo.
- WHAT TO BRING: Own lunch, snack ( nut free) and drink bottle
- WHAT TO WEAR: Activewear
PROGRAM SCHEDULE for Day 1 and 3 (26&28/06):
- 9:15 Meet up at Curtain Square gazebo
- 9:30 Supervised walk to Carlton Baths (+/-6mins)
- 10:00 Carlton Baths: Body, mind, fitness workout. Balance and strength building. Relaxation and flexibility exercises using our breath. All training is at YOUR level, non-competitive, no stress!
- 11:10 Lunch, picnic in the park. Eat, chill, relax. Friendship building activity.
- 12:00 Carlton Baths. Body, mind, fitness: Main activity, FUN games. Building self-confidence, self-empowerment, and self-awareness.
- 2:15pm Supervised walk back to Curtain Square (+/-6mins)
- 2:30pm Pick up at Curtain Square gazebo - Supervised attendance until 2:45 pm
PROGRAM SCHEDULE for Day 2 (27/06):
- 9:15 Meet up at Curtain Square gazebo
- 9:30 Supervised walk to Tram 1-6 stop Melbourne Cemetery/Lygon street (+/-5mins)
- 9:40 Supervised Tram 1-6 ride to Flinders station (18 Minutes)
- 10:00 Melbourne Kayak tour and lunch
- 13:45 Supervised Tram 1-6 ride to Melbourne Cemetery/Lygon street (18 minutes)
- 2:15 Supervised walk back to Curtain Square (+/-5mins)
- 2:30 Pick up at Curtain Square gazebo - Supervised attendance until 2:45 pm
