    Both UTS alumni, Lel Smits, a former Wall Street journalist and award-winning entrepreneur, and Geoff Lloyd, boasting over 20 years of C-Suite experience in financial services, will share pivotal moments that have shaped their paths to financial wellbeing.

    Lel Smits

    UTS graduate Lel Smits (Master of Arts, Journalism) is a leading voice on financial literacy.

    She is widely regarded for her ability to translate complex financial concepts into accessible education. An experienced finance journalist and awarded entrepreneur and director, Lel has interviewed and supported 700+ listed companies and executives.

    She currently serves as the Managing Director of The Stock Network, Director of The Capital Network, Director at the Australian Shareholders’ Association, Ambassador for Women on Boards and founded MarketLit, Australia's first millennial and Gen Z investment conference.

    Geoff Lloyd

    UTS graduate Geoff Lloyd (Master of Laws) is a trusted and experienced listed CEO & transformation leader in the Financial Services industry, with a proven track record in transforming & sustainably growing businesses.

    Geoff has over 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry. He was formerly the CEO of MLC Wealth and was responsible for over 1,200 financial advisors, Australia's largest retail super fund and Asset Management. Geoff has held a number of senior roles at BT Financial Group and St George's Wealth Management business.

    At UTS, Geoff chairs the UTS Law Advisory Board and was an inaugural board member of the UTS Foundation Board.

    MODERATOR:

    Christopher Aaron Yong

    Christopher is a Founding Member of the UTS Young Alumni Committee.  He also serves as a Board Member of the UTS Foundation Board, providing guidance for the strategic philanthropic support of students, research and initiatives.

    He is the Winner of the 2022 Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Awards in the ‘Sports and Entertainment’ subclass and the ‘Financial Services’ subclass in 2021, and is known for navigating complex contexts whilst maintaining strong interpersonal relationships.

    Christopher is dedicated to exploring how his expertise may be used to increase equitable access to education for disadvantaged youth.
