What is Forest Therapy? During this group session, we walk less than 2 kilometers on gently undulating trails. This trail is classified by parks Victoria as "Grade 2: No bushwalking experience required. A hardened or compacted surface which may have gentle hill sections or occasional steps." You will be guided through the forest and invited to take part in a series of slow, quiet activities that engage your senses and creativity. This practice encourages presence and mindfulness, allowing for a deeper connection with nature. The pace is gentle and allows everyone space to engage at their own comfort level. Each session is unique, shaped by the season, weather, natural surroundings and those present.

We will
walk, sit and move on Wurundjeri land, in this lush mountain ash forest. Surrounded by tall trees and beautiful mosses we can take in the sights, sounds and smells as we receive the restorative medicine from nature.

Address: O'Donohue Picnic Ground, Sherbrooke Lodge Road Sherbrooke, Victoria

Parking and facilities: There is plenty of parking, drinking water, toilets and BBQ's at the picnic ground.

Meet: Near the Parks Victoria Information sign

History of Forest Therapy.
Forest Therapy is a contemporary practice that originated in the 1980's in Japan where it is called Shinrin-Yoku (translates to immersion in the atmosphere of the forest). It was established as a preventative health practice backed by medical research into the therapeutic benefits of being in nature. Current research shows that this 2 to 3-hour guided wellbeing experience has many benefits including: improved mental and physical health, reduce stress levels, regulate pulse and blood pressure and elevate mood.

Wear: Comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes suitable to the forecast weather conditions. Note that the tracks here can sometimes be muddy after rain.

Bring: In a daypack: water bottle, snacks (in case you get peckish), any medication, warm layers, sunhat, sunscreen waterproof jacket, insect repellent and, if you are not comfortable sitting directly on the ground, something to sit or lay on. We will continue in light rain if participants are comfortable to. I have spare sitting mats available and will bring odourless insect repellant..

Terms and conditions: are available via my website: https://carolynshurey.com.au/
