3 Weeks: Commonwealth Art with Anne - Canada
Description
ABOUT THE CLASS
3-week Commonwealth Art: Canada
Discover the rich artistic heritage of Canada in this engaging three-week course led by tutor Anne. Starting Monday 19th October and running for 3 weeks, this hands-on workshop explores the styles of two iconic Canadian artists across a variety of mediums—open to all skill levels!
We will start with Tom Thomson, an early 20th-century artist whose work mainly featured oil paintings depicting the trees, skies, lakes, and rivers of Ontario. Guided by Anne, you will draw inspiration from his striking yet simplistic tree paintings and vibrant skies to create your own landscape piece.
Next, we will explore contemporary Canadian culture through the work of artist Brandy Saturley. Known for her pop-art influences, vibrant imagery, and touch of humour, we will study her artwork featuring cetaceans, wildlife, and iconic Canadian culture to inspire your own unique creation.
Students can use their choice of medium, including oils, watercolours, or drawing tools.
All core materials are supplied!
