Description

The NBMLHD Annual Supportive & Palliative Care Conference is one of the longest running palliative care conferences in Australia and consistently sells out of tickets.  Delegates come from a range of inpatient, outpatient, community and residential aged care services both locally and across the state.

The theme:
Care beyond cure:
the stories that shape us

As we celebrate 35 years of the NBMLHD Supportive and Palliative Care conference, this theme invites reflection, learning and connection. It captures the philosophy of the field and the lived experience of clinicians, patients, families and communities.

The presenters:

The keynote speaker will be Distinguished Professor David Currow.  A physician by training, his research focuses on reducing the burdens of cancers; population prevalence of symptoms, their impacts and their control; and health services research. David has published over 850 peer-reviewed articles, editorials, books and book chapters.

The other presenters will be speaking about a wide range of engaging topics, from the provision of palliative care in the intensive care unit to the creation of comfort quilts for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients.

Following last year’s success, the organisers are calling for abstracts for poster presentations, linked to the theme, ‘care beyond cure: the stories that shape us.’

The venue:

The conference will be held at the Western Sydney Convention Centre, a landmark precinct featuring a world class event centre and the five star Pullman Hotel.  Discounted rates are available for those wishing to stay at the Pullman Hotel (contact reservations@pullmanpenrith.com.au and mention that you are coming to the conference).
