Event description

Poet Larry Beresford is a Medicare-aged freelance medical journalist who lives in a senior cohousing community in Oakland with his wife, Rose Mark, also a poet and writer and retired special educator. Larry has published two books of poems, “Under a Gibbous Moon: The Adventures of Mister Funky” and “Family Poems”. He has won third prize in the Poetry of Lincoln, Benicia Love Poem, Dancing Poetry and 1982 Berkeley Poets Cooperative poetry contests. He also plays the harmonica and makes a wicked shrimp etouffee.

Rose Mark is a storyteller. Her curiosity has led her into many worlds. Her poems, essays, articles, short stories and books are a travelogue of her life’s encounters. Food, family, love, sex, aging, travel as well as her most recent book “Interior Design for Small Dwellings” are a few of the subject matters she has written about.

Her poems have been included in several anthologies, “Dirty Old Women” and “Oakland Neighborhoods”. Her book “Tasting Life”is a gustatory feast of food stories with recipes.

She can’t help but share all the tastiness of life with her audience.
