Event description

Join us for our new 4 week Pottery Wheel Course, presented by Jane

This course is designed for those who have never touched a wheel or clay before, as well as intermediate students who wants more time on the wheel. Come and enjoy some time out and get messy with us!

This course includes three pottery making sessions, and 1 Glazing session.

Course session dates are
17 February
24 February
3 March and
17 March (Final Glazing session)

You will learn:
- How to prepare, work and care for clay
- Basic wheel techniques such as as coning, how to centre your items, trimming, clean up etc
- How to throw basic vessels eg mugs, small bowls
- About different glazes, underglazes and the firing process

Additionally, this session you will receive:
- Clay for every session
- Firing for all items - Includes all bisque firings AND 1 glaze fire (all items to be glazed during the final week of the course)

You need to bring a towel, wear enclosed shoes and be prepared to walk out messy!

Please note, clay can be quite unpredictable at times. Items can warp, crack or even blow up during the firing process.  Even seasoned potters have the occasional disaster in the kiln. Jane will guide you through the creating of your piece as best she can to help prevent these mishaps although there is just no absolutely certain way to ensure everything is a success.  It is all part of this wonderful world we call  ceramics! If your piece happens to suffer any of these unfortunate events Mug n Brush can not be held responsible.

Our workshop itself is two hours long with plenty of time in between to relax and enjoy the night.
We meet at 6pm for a 6:30pm start. All Materials are included in this session.

Our Bar will be open to cater for all your Sipping requirements and our kitchen is now open evenings too! Feel free to come earlier to enjoy a meal - our bar section and Menu is available from 5:30pm!

Please note: We are NOT a traditional venue with a quiet classroom. At our venue you may find other creatives working on their own projects like making a drink carry case, building and hammering a rustic key holder together or using the pottery wheels. We are all about creating a fun, lively venue filled with laughter!

Places are limited so please enrol via the ticket link on this event as soon as possible.

Entrance to our venue is from the carpark at the back of 5 Mackinnon street, Rockingham
