4th Annual Special Olympics DanceSport Developemnt Competition
Who:
This competition is for people with intellectual disabilities and/or autism who have been participating in regular DanceSport training (either with Special Olympics, or through another program).
Competitors with intellectual disability are referred to as the ‘Athletes’.
An ‘Athlete’ can register for only one out of the four Disciplines in the same Special Olympics Dance Sport Competition.
In this competition, we are also excited to be including Unified Partners in the Vision Impaired and Para Dance demonstrations.
What:
Special Olympics is a global movement that provides year-round sports programs for people with intellectual disabilities. We promote inclusion, celebrate everyone’s abilities, and create opportunities for athletes to have fun, build confidence, and make lifelong friends through sport.
The Special Olympics WA local competitions are for children and adults with intellectual disabilities and autism, who wish to compete against other Athletes in their chosen sport and qualify for Special Olympics' state and national competitions.
DanceSport has four disciplines:
Dance styles include:
Ballroom
Street Dance
Performing Arts
Specialty
Each dancer is invited to perform:
One solo routine (duration: 1 minute 10 seconds to 1 minute 30 seconds)
One couple or duo routine (duration: 1 minute 10 seconds to 1 minute 30 seconds)
One team routine (duration: 1 minute 30 seconds to 1 minute 50 seconds)
Performances will be assessed on:
Musicality
Choreography execution
Athleticism
Presentation
Information pack including Rules and Judging Criteria will be emailed with your order confirmation.

How much:
$25 + Booking Fee.
Spectator entry is free.
What to Wear/Bring:
Music must be submitted to the organiser by 13 July 2025 via email: chairman@padwa.org.au
Dress to impress for your performance.
