Event description

Presented by VCA Dance Choreography as Research Students in response to PLANT TABLE (Lorenzutti & Brown)

Plant morphologies have long inspired dance forms. Floral movements, like the opening and closing of a flower are metaphors for dance actions, but what happens when dancers collaborate with plant movements to create new hybrids?

This group project for the theatre follows the site-specific performance of PLANT TABLE at MPavilion Parkville. Five dancers research and create choreographies in dialogue with the movement of plants and vegetal life. Drawing inspiration from ecological interdependence - such as orchids thriving in symbiosis with fungi and woodlands as composite organisms – as well as their personal memories of plants, their experimental choreographies explore exuberant life forms as expressions of care for our biodiverse world.

PARKING

The City of Melbourne has changed the parking restrictions around the Southbank Campus. Parking control hours are now expanded to 7am–10pm, seven days per week, and are capped at three hours. A $2-per-hour fee after 7pm is also now in place. There is no change to the $4-per-hour peak rate between 7am–7pm. Parking inspectors are regularly in the area fining drivers who overstay their meter, so we encourage everyone to be aware and avoid an expensive fine.

ACCESSIBILITY

All venues at the Southbank campus are wheelchair accessible. To read more about access services available at our venues, please visit:  https://finearts-music.unimelb.edu.au/access-our-events.
