5 Week Ashtanga Yoga for Beginners
Event description
Ashtanga yoga is a traditional method of yoga originating in India that is primarily focused on moving with your breath. The approach can be tailored to people of any age and ability and is an opportunity to calm the mind and nervous system through the breath while enhancing your flexibility and strength. Â
This practice is not about being flexible or of a certain athletic ability and can be beneficial to anyone of any stage of life.
Over the course of 5 weeks, we guide you step by step to develop your own Ashtanga yoga practice safely and with an emphasis on improving your connection to your body through education and empowerment. Â
You will learn:Â
- How to do free breathing (nose breathing with sound) - a calming and grounding breath technique
- Classical Surya Namaskara A & B - Traditional sun salutations that develop flow, mobilize the joints and activate the body for practice
- Foundational standing poses - A sequence of poses that improve balance, stability and overall strength and flexibility
- Key Seated Poses - Hip opening poses that gently enhance flexibility particularly in hips and hamstrings
- Finishing Poses including a beginner's approach to inversions like shoulder stand. Inverted poses are known for stimulating digestion and reducing stagnation in the body by improving circulation of blood and lymphatic fluid.
Each class is specifically designed to help you progress week by week and give you confidence to develop your own yoga practice.Â
You will also receive a one month unlimited membership to attend any class at the Nambour Yoga Centre for the duration of the course.Â
