Description

A free, light-hearted, folky, acoustic concert/cabaret . . .

Loosely Woven is a community based group of people who put together and perform two to three shows each year. Loosely Woven is the main reason Gial and I bought the former Allambie Heights Uniting Church and established Humph Hall in the first place.

'Close to the wind' is the first 'brand new' for 2026. Due to time constraints there will, once again, be only 8 public performances including two here at Humph Hall.  See the Loosely Woven web site for details of the other performances.

The concert will feature 17 instrumentalists and singers.

There will be a number of well known songs including:

  • Splish splash I was taking a bath

  • Roar (Kate Perry)

  • Somewhere along the road

  • Sound of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel)

  • The night they drove old Dixie Down

  • Does your mother know? (ABBA)

  • No one needs to know

  • The Last Shanty

  • Tis done I am a bride (from 'Yeoman of the Guard')

Some lesser known songs:

  • Close to the wind

  • Speed of the sound of loneliness

  • The Dimming of the Day

  • Children in the Distance (Chinese song)

  • Little Gomez (Eric Bogle

  • World Turns (Khristian Mizzi)

  • Older Ladies

  • Tomorrow

And a couple of original songs:

  • Eat my words

  • Forever in love

Instruments this time will include violins, cello, flute, recorder, whistle, harmonium, melodica, harp, guitars, keyboard and percussion.
