This series will be mapping INTUITION through a 5Rhythms and Internal Family Systems lens.

Through 5Rhythms movement and parts work (IFS), we will chart our way through the vast territory of the body to direct our compass to our true creative spirit to receive the wisdoms of Gabrielle Roth's '5 realms of intuition'.

With feet on the ground, hearts in our hands, we embark on a journey to practice, to lean in, extend into our edges, into the folds and crevices, to unblend, befriend... to be Self led, our parts embodied, understood, appreciated.

We will dance, write, share, sculpt, connect.

INSTINCT - june

Offer your body to the realm of mystery and receive the gift of INSTINCT - Gabrielle Roth

Flesh, bones, blood, breath, soles of our feet anchoring, listening, opening receptivity. Turning our 1000 eyes inward, attuning to our system, flowing through our inner landscape, becoming the cartographers of our internal terrain, tracking the threads of our truth. Codes of our animal body - primal, sharpening awareness as we move through the 5Rhythms map.

Tuning in to the felt sense from the inside out, sensations, uncomfort, parts of our system that might be fearful, mistrusting, polarised or blended, good serving parts, working to protect us from the hurt of our alienated younger parts, parts that might want to keep us away from our body. With an IFS lens we bring awareness to a part/s that may arise and bring curiosity to them.

Bringing Self, compassion and understanding allows the unbending of part/s, inspires courage, trust in our bodies, our instincts.

INTIMACY - july

Offer your heart to the realm of darkness and receive the gift of INTIMACY - Gabrielle Roth

Into me I see... hips, heart, strength, vulnerability, passion, life force. The terrain of hips and heart, mystery and mastery, an intimate union.

At times we resist falling into intimacy, connection. Protector parts concerned about safety, sensing the vulnerability of the heart, the longing, the pull away from pain, turning to a tension.

Bringing form to, expression of soft parts, tense parts, where we hide from love and closeness, where don't, where we say YES, where we want to say NO, where we say MAYBE.

In the soma of this sensing and feeling, movement towards and with the parts, bringing light to the grip, unfurls the tension, unburdens, redirecting the compass towards Self, our warrior heart, towards connection, towards INTIMACY with self first and extending out.

INTENTION - august

Staying with the unknown .... within the falling apart, the shedding, the breaking open, the disintegration, cleansing, the staying lightens the load... there, a clearer path opens. Be-ing in the now, a deeper knowing of the unknowable.

In the confusion that can be alive in the realm of Chaos, resistance parts, diminishing and disassociated parts can make themselves known.

Awareness of feet, being with felt senses, breath, belly, centre.., staying with the belly mind, a softing, understanding and compassion for the parts' search for safety in the surrender, for the care in the confusion, a clarity of intention opens to hold all the moving parts in the process of alchemical transmutation.

IMAGINATION & INSPIRATION - september

On the wings of expansion, in the folds of the reawakened, on the edges of unity and compassion, can be parts of separateness, indifference. With an IFS lens, we bring focus, breath and inquiry to the parts opening in our awareness.

Befriending parts we bring ourselves closer to reimagined pathways. Upgraded - opening to our imagination we show up and share our inspiration and our gifts. In the fullness of compassion we heal.

In the shadow realm of destiny, saboteur parts, controlling parts, restricting movement to change, to growth. Moving, shaping, breathing, holding these parts, softening the clench, the protection, binging Self, compassion, acceptance of the seen and the unseen, aligning with intuition - trust.

What is the 5Rhythms:

5Rhythms is a dynamic movement practice—a practice of being in your body—that ignites creativity, connection, and community. It's a dynamic dance practice, that teaches us that life is energy in motion, freeing us from fixed notions of who we are, about others, beliefs and the world around us.

In dancing the 5Rhythms we can track perceptions and memories; creatively expressing with gestures and shapes our emotions, truth and edges; we tune into instincts and intuitions, reconnect with the circles of birth, death and renewal and initiate ourselves back into the wisdom of our body where we can heal, reshape, and find our freedom.

The 5Rhythms follows a wave pattern, moving through 5 energetic states of Being; flowing, staccato, chaos, lyrical and stillness. They are markers on the way back to Self, a vulnerable, wild passionate, compassionate instinctive self.

What is Internal Family Systems (IFS):

IFS is a therapuetic approach that views the mind as composed of multiple 'parts' or sub personalities, each with its own unique qualities and functions. Individuals develop a compassionate relationship with all parts of the system to achieve greater integration and well-being. The model views the mind as an internal family system where different parts can be understood and worked with rather than being seen as 'bad' or pathological. Essentially there are no bad parts.

The model is a transformative approach to healing that fosters self-awareness by engaging with the different 'parts' as experienced through the body. The process comprises several key steps aimed at harmonizing an individual's internal system through the process of leading with Self energy.

IFS draws upon mindfulness, self-compassion, self-acceptance, systems theory, multiplicity of the mind, and trauma theories.

Why 5Rhythms and IFS:

They are perfect partners! What happens in your psyche affects your body - your body holds the story as well. When we can listen, sense and feel and move (no matter how small or big) with what is happening in the mind as well as the body, offers an embodied experience of the hurts and burdens we carry. To heal these parts we bring understanding, compassion and curiosity to them. It's a powerful approach. In both 5Rhythms and IFS we explore and listen from the inside out. In both approaches we encourage movement towards the Self, Essence, the one who knows, but not bypass our protector parts or shadow or ego characters.
